The Truth About Buying a Home (That HGTV Won't Tell You)
I talk to a lot of buyers throughout my hours as a Realtor who seem genuinely surprised that the homebuying process takes more than a weekend.
I get it. We've all watched the shows. Thirty minutes, three houses, big reveal. Done.
Even some of the other popular real estate shows that focus on the drama of real estate(and created drama for views) have stigmatized the industry for new home buyers and sellers. If you've been through the process, even years ago, it may have and most likely did change from the last time you bought or sold.
Here's what actually happens: once you're under contract on a home, something is moving every single day in your escrow. Inspections are scheduled. Lender conditions come back. Title work is happening. Negotiations over repairs or credits are in motion.
As your agent, my job is to stay on top of all of it, the deadlines and things that pop up to keep you informed through every step. That daily communication is something I'm personally committed to doing better for every client I work with.
Want to know the biggest part that often surprises buyers? This process requires your participation too! Responding to your lender quickly. Making decisions when options are on the table. Contacting the service providers that you have chosen from my recommendations on the proper timeline(which I do help with). Staying engaged, even when things feel quiet on your end.
The buyers who have the smoothest closings are the ones who treat this like the serious commitment it is--an active and not a passive experience.
If you're thinking about buying a North Richland Hills home or a vacation home in Granbury, I'd love to sit down and walk you through what the real process looks like from start to finish. No pressure. Just honest information so you can make the best decision for your situation.
